Hoar Park Fishery boss Chay Jackson has been lined up to appear on TalkSport’s national TV radio show Fisherman’s Blues on March 12th to help promote the Warwickshire Fishery’s new Angling Academy.

Chay is a qualified Professional Angling Association coach and is in the process of converting his three-lake complex into a teaching centre for budding young anglers.
“The Academy is my way of giving back to a sport that has given me so much pleasure over the last 30 years,” says Chay. “I wanted to provide quality angling coaches for a price affordable to all kids from all types of back grounds. Ideally I wouldn’t charge at all, but I have to pay the bills somehow!
“I’m currently looking into grants and various schemes that will allow me to coach the kids for free, which ultimately is what I want to achieve. All kids should have the chance to fish.”
The project involves re-building all the swims on the Nuneaton venue’s two original pools as well as installing a large unit for a classroom, BBQ area and tackle shop, all building up to a grand opening on April 30th. The day will include free angling coaching from Level 2 coaches, angling demonstrations, a hog roast, BBQ and lots of angling related games for the kids, plus tackle prizes.
Chay is holding four-day half term and school holiday angling courses for boys and girls aged 8-14 years. The courses cost £60 per child and include all tackle, bait and peg fees. On successful completion of the course, all children receive a starter pack including whip, rigs, terminal tackle and a manual, plus there’s a presentation day where certificates and prizes will be handed out, with parents welcome to attend. There are course dates in April, May, July and August. For more information visit www.hoarparkfishery.co.uk .
