The application forms for the 2008 Sensas Team England Under 18s and Drennan Team England Under 21s youth trials are now available for download from the NFA website, www.nfadirect.com/youthtrials2008.

Following the successes of the 2007 World Youth Championships in the Czech Republic, where the Sensas Team England U 17s won team silver and Matt Godfrey won his second World Championship gold, the standard of angler needs to be high.

Applicants must impress both Mark Downes and Steve Sanders the England Youth Team Managers, who will once again be tasked with the search for the finest young talent this country can provide. Successful applicants will represent England in this year’s World Championships taking place in Gent, Belgium in July.

Mark Downes adds, “The rowing course in Gent, Belgium is a great venue; skimmers and bream will be the main quarry. The last time we went there we won gold so we will be looking to maintain that level of performance. The venue will require pole and bloodworm skills but the waggler may well play a part on some of the sections”.

All completed application forms including nominations plus references must be at the NFA by no later than 10th May 2008. The trials will be held on or around the 14/15 June with the team leaving for Belgium on the 19th July. Forms should be sent to The National Federation of Anglers, The National Water Sports Centre, Adbolton Lane, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham, NG12 2LU.
