CORNISH angling holiday complex White Acres has teamed up with tackle firm Daiwa to sponsor the innovative new Virgin’s Festival in early June.

As previously reported, the June 7-14th event at the prolific Cornish venue is only open to non-sponsored anglers with no record of success in open events or in the Festivals at the holiday complex.
The idea is that anglers who cannot normally compete with the professionals will find themselves fishing against anglers of their own ability and it’s already proved to be a popular idea, as over half of the 72 places have already been sold.

White Acres were already sponsoring the festival to the tune of £1000 cash and now Daiwa have stepped in with an extremely generous sponsorship package which will see the winner of the four-day festival walking away with a superb Will Raison Matchwinner 811 pole, worth a cool £1150

There are also some tasty tackle prizes right down the list, with the second placed angler winning a Matchwinner 14ft Power Distance float rod worth £190; the third placed angler winning a Matchwinner 13ft Power Float rod worth £180; and the fourth placed angler collecting a Matchwinner 11/13ft Power Feeder rod also worth £180.

It doesn’t end there either, because Daiwa are putting up a £25 pack of Hydrolastic and Matchwinner line for the next TWENTY anglers. All in all we are talking about over £3000 in sponsorship.

It doesn’t end there either, because Sky TV’s Keith Arthur, a White Acres regular, will be on hand to give the ‘virgins’ a helping hand and offer advice as the festival progresses. Furthermore, fishery manager Clint Elliot is hopeful that England’s Will Raison will be present on the final day of the festival to present the prizes.

“It’s brilliant when ideas like this turn into something special and I would like to thank Daiwa for being so generous with their sponsorship,” said Clint.

Clint also added that White Acres is running a Fish O Mania qualifier on June 14 which will be covered by the Sky TV cameras.

“If any of the Virgins want to stay on an extra day to fish the qualifier I’m sure we can work something out,” he said.
