TACKLE giant Daiwa has stepped in to back the Bewdley match length on the River Severn (see this month’s Midland Angler) and that plus a new look to the opens should help ensure some strong turnouts throughout the summer.

A new pools structure will see prizes paid out every five pegs, giving more anglers a chance of a prize, and there are also new fishing times with anglers on the bank until 7pm in the summer midweek events.

There will be an open match on the Kidderminster DAA controlled water every Wednesday and Saturday in the summer until the end of September and every Wednesday and Sunday in the winter from October.

The KDAA also has a new 24-hour booking and information phone line, tel 07919 122393, where you can book in, and find out up-to-date venue information and match results.

The matches organised jointly by Dave Lloyd, Matt Maginnis and Dave Harrell, who has helped negotiate the Daiwa sponsorship of the length and of the Bewdley Festival at the end of July.

Commented Dave: “We’ve changed the fishing times in the midweek summer opens so that fishing is from 2pm to 7pm and for the weekend matches we’ll be fishing from midday. Hopefully these moves should mean that there are plenty of fish caught.”

The venue will also be hosting two rounds of the Drennan Superleague on July 5th and 19th and a Teams of Four Championship over two days in August, plus an Individual Winter League in October.

Places for all matches must be booked in advance with the latest booking in time 6pm on the day prior to the match. Block bookings will be accepted and places can be reserved in advance for any dates for the whole season.

“If a match is to be cancelled., information will be updated on the Matchline the day before the match and results will also be available on this line after each match,” added Dave.

“There are still plenty of top match anglers who want pure river fishing and I expect strong turnouts and top excellent fishing.”
