Details have emerged of a new Winter League set to take place on Lincolnshire’s popular Fossdyke Canal. Having played host to several high profile leagues in the past, the Fossdyke has a reputation for offering top quality sport even in the coldest of weathers.

League organiser Alan Henry said “Living just a few miles from the canal, I have been lucky enough to see just how many fish have been in the system over the last few years. Last winter saw several all roach nets in excess of 10lb, and with the addition of some of the canals monster perch we saw winning nets of up to 19lb! The truly great thing about the Fossdyke though is the backing weights, and its fair to say that the vast majority of anglers had a good days fishing on all the matches last year.”
Stewart and Alan Millar, owners of top Lincoln Tackle Shop Harrisons were delighted when they were asked to sponsor the event.
“We have always been a fan of the Fossdyke, and have fished a lot of league matches on the venue ourselves. We like to try and put something back into the sport, and are glad to be donating some tackle vouchers to bulster the prize fund.”
Kicking off on the 22nd October, the league will run entirely on Saturdays, with anglers counting their best four results from the six matches. Entry to the league is £60.00 with, each league also having a £20.00 daily pool. Anglers wishing to book on to the league should contact Alan Henry on:  07712620385 to reserve their place.
