THERE was a steward’s enquiry after John Logan took the second Total-FishingClub.com individual championships, held at his own Lawn Farm Fishery in Cambs!

John, aka Jocko on the popular website, allowed members to fish Willow Lake, a 40-peg venue normally reserved for pleasure anglers.

And it proved to be a good match with only three anglers failing to break double figures and everyone getting plenty of bites all day, although conditions meant it was much harder than anticipated to catch a big weight shallow.

John drew noted peg 14 at the inlet to a bay at the water near Papworth Hospital and fed and fished pellet to land seven carp and some silvers for a 36-15-0 winning bag.

“Even though the weather’s cooled off a bit the fish are still responding to pellet, and it allows you to pick off the bigger fish and build a weight,” he said.

“I fished and fed 4mm expanders on a 0.13mm rig at the bottom of the slope in around 12 feet of water.”

Trophy holder Fred Davis put up a sterling defence, taking a bag of silvers on open water plus a good carp down the edge for 23-10-0 from peg 8.

“I’m glad to have done well but in all honesty it’s good to see a new name on the trophy and I won’t miss having to polish it!” he said.

John, who got plenty of stick for winning on his own water, but fished a good match, has already been told his 2006 defence won’t be back at his own fishery.
