Brighton angler Phil Brown’s first ever carp the massive Lake Cassien was this unforgettable 58lb 10oz fish landed while fishing with Cassien Carp Tours.

With night fishing now banned at the famous 1,500 acre water in the Var region of Southern France and the water levels rising due to heavy rainfall, the guides did plenty of pre-baiting in 14ft of water. The big fish came at 6am and fell for tiger nuts flavoured with supermarket bought syrup.

Over five days Phil and his friend Dave landed seven Cassien carp with the others going 21lb, 32lb, 33lb, 33lb, 38lb and 39lb.
