FISHING REPORT

MOLANDS All the pools were frozen until around Thursday then the thaw set in and the fishing got better through the weekend. Nets to nearly 50lb were caught, mainly the newly stocked fish but some bigger carp up to 17lb were caught over the weekend. In the matches bomb with bread, maggot feeder or pole with maggot have been the best tactics.

GEARYS Only fishable from Saturday but fish were caught on Sunday’s Winter League with carp to 15lb, small ‘stockies’ and skimmers also caught. Method feeder or bomb and bread to the middle stumps or a small cage feeder with maggot has been the best approach.

LITTLE GEARYS Fished all week after a concerted ice breaking effort and on most days F1s and carp featured in catches to 50lb. Pole fished maggot or pellet was the best approach when frozen but when thawed, maggot feeder started to catch well.

GRATUITIES A few anglers caught some nice nets of silvers with some quality roach and skimmers coming to maggot or pinkies on the pole.

ANNIVERSARIES The open water in the middle of the pool has been the best area with pegs 6, 16 – 19 and 23 all producing F1s and small carp to bomb/waggler with pellet or wafter. There have been plenty of silvers coming to pole and maggot as well on the other areas.

SIBLINGS A Produced the winning weight of 58lb on Sunday’s Winter League but the fishing was very patchy as the others struggled on Siblings A. Dobbing bread down the shelf or the far bank was the winning tactic.

SIBLINGS B Fishing hard after the defrost with the fish shoaling on pegs 15 – 17 but it was there the best catches came from. Pole fished bread, maggot or pellet have caught F1s and small carp.
