FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 6/10/13

Last week 80 rods caught 170 fish for a 2.12 average.
There has been an improvement on last week but the fishing is still a little hit and miss with the fish feeding better on the duller more overcast days.  The weed is slowly starting to die back on Cocks Close and more parts are fishable now.  The high bank and sand bank have been the best areas with Damsel Nymph, P T Nymph, Diawl Bach, black or Olive Buzzer, white Lures and Minkies the top patters.

Ray Inman of Birmingham fished from a boat on Cocks Close and caught and returned seven fish including one at 5lb and two at 4lb and they all fell to a Diawl Bach fished on a floating line.  Alan Pitt of Birmingham fished from the bank on Cocks Close and caught five fish which included the best fish of the week, a 6lb rainbow and these all came to a Minkie fished on an intermediate line.  Mr N Angus of Wickford fishing catch and release caught 11 fish whilst fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and these were taken on a variety of flies including Rainbow Warrier, Diawl Bach and Damsels.

On the members’ waters, Park Meadow is still fishing the best.  Mike Ravenscroft of Kenilworth caught seven fish from a boat and these came to small Nymphs on a floating line.  Great Pool is slowly improving with fish starting to move on the top but still frustratingly hard to tempt.  Peter Wrigley caught three fish to small dries whilst fishing from a boat on there.

For the time being we have four boats and limited bank space so pre-booking is required.
