THE first annual members’ handbook has been published by the National Federation of Sea Anglers in an effort to ensure all members know about its work to protect and encourage the growth of their sport.

The 134-page pocket-sized guide has been sent to all members replacing the long-running diary.  It includes a comprehensive tide table.

The federation’s insurance scheme covering individual members’ angling activities wherever in the world they go fishing is explained, together with the federation’s work in influencing government decision-making, conservation of fish stocks, education and training, and the specimen award scheme.

There is also advice on catch and release while fishing, specimen fish sizes and records, contacts for the NFSA throughout England and addresses for the sea angling federations in Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The guide also has the full British record list and sets out how to claim a British record including how to photograph the fish, and how to become an international competitor.
