Team England coarse supremo Dick Clegg OBE is organising two matches to raise funds for Team England Veterans as they bid to bring back gold from Portugal in the 8th FIPS-ed Veterans World Championships in July 2015.

The fundraising idea dubbed Wars of the Roses will pit forty Yorkshiremen led by Dick Clegg OBE against forty Lancastrians led by Danny Sixsmith. Each match will be five hours long with Partridge Lakes hosting the first clash on Wednesday 6th May with the return match being staged at Lindholme Lakes on Wednesday 20th May. Entry to each match is £25 which includes pools and there will be a raffle on each match day.

All funds from the matches and the raffle will be used exclusively to support the team’s participation at the World Championships in Portugal. There is no requirement for anglers to fish both matches and entry is open to all. Anyone interested should contact Dick Clegg or Danny Sixsmith and highlight which match and which county they would like to represent.

Dick Clegg OBE said:

“Us Yorkies need to put right the defeat at Bosworth in 1845 when King Richard the 3rd was battered by Henry Tudor later King Henry 7th. Well this Richard the Clegg OBE wants to batter Danny the Sixsmith, a Lancastrian, to put the record straight so please sign up by contacting myself or Danny.”

Dick went on to say:

“None of our international teams are eligible for funding from any of our public bodies and only a handful our teams are sponsored yet our teams consistently deliver at world level. We hope these two fundraising events will help our Veterans team get to Portugal and bring back the gold.”
